Founded in 1976, JEU is the only French-language magazine in North America devoted exclusively to the performing arts. Published four times a year, its 96 pages feature reflections and perspectives from artists, journalists, researchers, and observers working in theatre, dance, and circus.

1. The challenge
JEU, Revue de théâtre was at an important point of organizational reflection. Its team, editorial committee, and leadership needed to clarify the organization’s mission, establish shared values, define strategic priorities, and determine how digital considerations should shape its future.
The challenge was not simply to create a strategic plan, but to build shared direction and ownership across the organization.
2. The approach
Akoulina designed and facilitated a collaborative strategic planning process that brought diverse voices into the conversation. Drawing on her facilitation expertise and relational approach, she created a safe and inclusive environment where participants could openly contribute, challenge ideas, and co-create the organization's future direction.
The process addressed mission, values, strategic objectives, and digital priorities while ensuring that participants remained engaged throughout.
3. The outcome
JEU emerged with a clearer sense of purpose, shared values, and strategic direction—including a plan for its digital evolution.
Most importantly, the process strengthened organizational alignment and mobilization. The team was able to move forward with a common understanding of its role in advancing critical reflection, research, and dialogue around the performing arts.
